“Paul and Dean came out to see me last year to quote on what we thought would be a 5 week job. Paul was very knowledgeable and told me what he thought was wrong and what would be needed. He suggested I get a structural engineer out anyway and get a report done. The engineers report did not tell me anything Paul hadn’t already said. Paul and Dean started in November 2021 and are currently still here!

They have done a phenomenal job on a very difficult building – an old Victorian Lodge cottage C1860 ish with a very dodgy top floor 1970’s DIY extension. There were no wall ties, the wrong lintels, appalling brickwork, rubble filled cavities, severe damp due to concrete render, bulging gable ends etc! Paul and Dean have removed the render, exposed the beautiful original sandstone walls, dressed them, lime pointed and rebuilt where needed. They have repaired and replaced brickwork, lintels and wall ties and marvelled at how badly an extension can be built!

Within days of the render being removed the house started drying out and differences could be seen. Paul has taken the time to explain everything step by step and in layman’s terms. His 40+ years of experience is evident in everything he says but particularly in what he does and he and Dean take enormous pride in their work and it shows. The work is carried out to the highest of standards and they work hard! From the minute they arrive to the moment they leave they work and they tidy up as they go.

I would not hesitate to recommend DLC to anyone, especially anyone with a period property. They are highly skilled, highly professional, kind, patient and very nice to have around. They are worth every penny and have taken an ugly duckling house and slowly but surely a beautiful swan is emerging. Both myself and my house thank them from the bottom of my heart and her foundations!”

“We recently bought a large 1930s house but had a full Structural Survey carried out prior to purchase. Amongst other things,  this flagged up significant structural issues including wall tie failure and no lintels above the windows.

After extensive research, we called out Paul at DLC who carried out a comprehensive survey and explained in very simplistic terms what the required remedial work would entail.

We fully intended obtaining 3 quotes for the work required, but having discussed the repairs with Paul, we decided to follow our gut instinct and award DLC the contract as he is not only very knowledgeable in his field, but is a very honest person. Additionally, we found their quote very competitive.

Paul and his two sons have now completed all structural repairs on our property and everything has been done to an extremely high standard. Nothing was too much trouble and they always left the site clean and tidy. They were also very considerate towards our neighbours who have had to endure major renovation work being carried out next door.

To conclude, Paul and his team have turned what could have been an extremely stressful renovation project, into an experience which we have almost enjoyed. Thank you.”

“My 110 year  old semi detached house was developing visible structural problems. I believed that  the Helifix system could offer an appropriate solution.  I contacted DLC a structural contractor experienced in this field.
Paul  at DLC undertook a thorough survey and I accepted  his  fair estimate in relation to the work identified.  The work was undertaken efficiently and professionally by Paul and  his team. His intended course  of action was  explained  and agreed as it progressed.
I was  reassured by his knowledge and evident expertise and by the quality of the work undertaken. I believe that I was lucky to have found DLC.”

“Just had work done pointing the back of my house and some structural work and pointing to the front.
After having a few quotes Paul from DLC came, he was very knowledgeable and explained the work he recommended needed carrying out very clearly. The quote Paul gave was very good and we decided to contract DLC to carry out the work.
It was also great to see Paul working with his two sons, they worked really well together, they all had good knowledge and worked to a high standard. They also left the job in a clean and tidy condition.
I would definitely use DLC again.”

“I have owned several properties in the Haswell/South Hetton area and have required various levels of building work on some of these properties, including roof replacement, damp courses, and general building work. Mr Black has done all of this work for me with excellent results. He is a diligent worker with careful attention to detail. I have found no fault with any of the numerous jobs he has undertaken. I would not hesitate to recommend his company for any building project large or small.”

“After obtaining a few quotes from builders I was in a bit of a rut on who to select as many of them were a similar price and seemed to offer very similar services. Then DLC Structural Solutions was then recommended to me by a work colleague who had used them several times in the past and only had good things to say.
I found Paul from DLC Structural to be a very honest person. Everything was explained to me in full and I was welcome to inspect all aspects of the build. Communication was especially excellent, I was kept informed through all aspects of the build and Paul was available on his mobile long after he had finished for the night to answer any lingering questions.
If you want a builder who will complete the work to a high standard with minimal fuss whilst remaining competitively priced, you will be very happy with DLC!”

“We had extensive work carried out by Paul and his team at D.L.C. Structural Solutions, when we bought our business premises in 2014. We found them very punctual, efficient and friendly. At every stage of the work, we were told what was happening and shown what had been done and what was left to be done. It was great to have a very reliable and competent company carrying out the work. We were totally satisfied with the job done.”

“We recently had to have major structural work done on our house. After doing extensive research on line, fortunately for us we came across DLC Structural solutions. They are a family firm and are experts in their field with extensive knowledge of both building and structural work. Both Paul and Dean made what was a major job seem straightforward and less stressful for us both. They were always on time and completed a full day’s work, and at times went the extra mile without being asked. Not only were they professional, trustworthy and sincere they were a lovely team and a pleasure to have in our home. We would like to thank them for all their hard work and the work they carried out which was of an exceptional standard. We have and will continue to recommend them to anyone requiring building or structural work.”

“I contacted D.L.C Structural to give me an estimate for re-doing wall ties that had not been done properly or finished by a previous company I had employed. They assessed the work that had been done and explained how the previous company had not complied with building regulations in anyway. D.L.C was thorough in their explanation about the building regulations ensuring that I understood what was required and showing me in layperson terms what and why the work needed to be completed in a certain way.
After initial discussions I was confident in the building service that would be provided. ‘Once bitten twice shy’ – after my previous experience I was obviously very nervous and untrusting.
As a result of the initial consultation I employed D.L.C structural to do both wall ties and re-point the front of the house. They did exactly what had been explained. They were thorough, kept me informed of the work being progressed, were always on time and the team worked hard. They were always thorough in their explanation, but didn’t try to baffle me with technical talk and jargon. D.L.C always did their best to help me understand the what’s, whys and rational behind what they were doing.
I was very happy with the job D.L.C structural did, trusted the quality of their work and appreciated the time given to explain and not baffle me with technical talk. I would (and have, to a number of friends and neighbours) highly recommend D.L.C structural. They will be the first company I call for a quote the next time I need some work doing.”
